Estrella Taco y Mas recently announced the closure of the beloved Downingtown restaurant, in a social media post on Friday, April 11, 2025. The team closed their doors permanently on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
“They say the seven-year itch is real… but we didn’t expect it to show up while we were rolling out tortillas,” the restaurant shared via their social media. “After seven unforgettable years, we’ve made the incredibly tough decision to close Estrella.”
The community flooded the comment section, with an outpouring of sadness, gratitude, and well wishes. Many shared how thankful they were for Estrella’s presence in the Downingtown community over the years; reflecting on memories made over their nachos and margaritas.
“Downingtown is saying goodbye to more than just a local spot for great food – we’re saying goodbye to a team whose leadership, heart, and hustle made this town better.” Nick Winkler shared via Facebook.
Another user said, “You will be so missed. Estrella has been a place of so many wonderful memories within my family and with friends. I know this was not an easy decision that I’m sure took so much love, thought, and heart ache (but I also hope was a time of reflection of all you did for Downingtown through Estrella).”
Estrella came to the Downingtown area a handful of years ago, inspired by the flavors of Texas and the authenticity of the Downingtown community. The dining experience was unmatched, deriving unique dishes that are scarcely seen in this northern state. Warm, homemade tortillas wrapped around juicy, Texas-style brisket and barbecue were a favorite. Cold craft beers and cocktails (especially the margaritas) were the perfect accompaniment to any dish. The overall vibe of the unique space was welcoming, laid-back, and relaxing.
Estrella was about more than delicious food – it was a place for friends and family to gather and celebrate.

You’re the reason Estrella felt like home,” Estrella Taco y Mac expressed. “This place has always been more than just a restaurant. It’s been about connection, comfort, and community. And that’s something we’ll carry with us, always.”
The reason for the restaurant’s closure is unknown.
