Every summer season would be marked incomplete without a superb Fourth of July celebration, whether you’re relaxing poolside, chowing down on some festive foods, or watching fireworks light up the night sky.
Fourth of July is the perfect backdrop for the celebration of the summer. Check out 19335GO’s guide to lighting your patriotic spark this Friday.
Good Neighbor Day
This annual event boasts a full day of activities at Kerr Park and is likely Downingtown’s biggest July 4th celebration. Activities include a bike decorating contest, boat races, a fun run, and a carnival. Got a special talent? Show it off at the popular Downingtown Has Talent competition, which runs from 4 PM – 8 PM. End of the night with a colorful firework show, starting at 9:30 PM. Fireworks can be seen across the borough.
Hit the Beach
Downingtown residents have three states to choose from when they get the urge for a sandy, sunny beach day. With multiple beaches spanning across Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland coasts, there will be no shortage of sandcastles to build and waves to jump over. Each beach town is likely to have their own events and firework displays, so take a closer look to see which ones suit your family the best.
Picnic at Marsh Creek Lake
Pack some summer sandwiches, cold drinks, and a cozy blanket and find a spot at Marsh Creek State Park to relax. Let the kids run around and explore. You can even pack your bathing suits and put your toes in the lake. Into water activities? Try out paddle boarding, canoeing, or kayaking.
Host a Backyard BBQ
What says Fourth of July more than burgers and hot dogs on the grill? Whether hosting or attending a backyard bash, you can expect classic summer dishes, such as pasta salad and patriotic desserts, like red, white, and blue cupcakes. With a lively music playlist, yard games such as corn hole, and some type of water activity (try a slip n slide or water balloons!) for the kids, it will sure be a memorable holiday.
