Communities that Care of Greater Downingtown (CTC) is thrilled to announce its 6th annual alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) prevention youth video contest winners. All 7th – 12th grade youth who live in the Downingtown Area School District were invited to create a motivational video message to share their favorite healthy hobbies that better their mental health and they are able to enjoy because they have made the decision to not use drugs or alcohol.
A group of three 11th graders from the Downingtown STEM Academy, Arya Chouksey, Ashwika Papasani, & Tanvi Chigurupati, won first prize for their informative video showcasing how they utilize painting, baking and exercising as healthy hobbies. The second place winner, Ayden Koval (7th Grade), created a engaging video in which he shared how he enjoys scootering, drawing, reading, and jumping on his trampoline as ways to stay healthy and drug free. Finally, our third place winners were 9th grade students from Downingtown West High School: Leo Constantinidis, Keegan Brady, and Aodhan Doherty. Their creative video featured how they enjoy lifting weights, playing basketball, and cardio exercise as healthy habits to relieve stress and avoid drugs and alcohol.
The video contest winners will each receive a cash prize and will be featured on CTC of Greater Downingtown’s social media channels and website. To view the winning videos, visit their YouTube channel link at the bottom of our website: www.dtownctc.org.
CTC of Greater Downingtown knows that most youth do NOT use drugs and alcohol and they wish to celebrate that through this video contest. The Downingtown Area School District Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS) data supports this statement as 88.8% of DASD youth said that they had not used alcohol in the past 30 days and 94.1% said that they had not used marijuana in the past 30 days (PAYS 2023).
