National Dog Day: The Best Places to Bring Your Pup in Downingtown

Aug 26, 2025 | 19335

It’s National Dog Day! Each year on August 26, we take a moment to appreciate our furriest family members who make life a tail-waggin’ adventure.

Looking for a way to celebrate this occasion in Downingtown? Luckily for dog owners, Downingtown has plenty of parks, trails, and dog-friendly restaurants to bring your pup to.

Let’s jump into the list of places your dog can sniff, snack, and socialize here in the 19335.

Struble Trail

Struble Trail is a beginner friendly trail that spans 2.6 miles along the east branch of the Brandywine Creek. With the trail being generally flat, it’s the perfect place for pups of any size to get some exercise in. Picnic tables and rest stops are scattered along the trails for water, potty, and snack breaks.

Lloyd Park | 403 Lloyd Avenue

Lloyd Park, an expansive 30-acre green space, has many great features for both dogs and their families. The park features ADA-compliant play equipment, two sand volleyball courts, walking trails, a picturesque gazebo, and picnic tables. Even better? Lloyd Park offers spacious dog-only sections so they can run free and socialize with other furry friends (with supervision.)

Marsh Creek State Park | 645 Park Road

This 1,784 square-foot park is pet friendly, with numerous trails for dogs and their owners to enjoy. Also available are picnic areas and the 55-acre Marsh Creek Lake, which offers opportunities for fishing and boating. Dogs must be leashed at all times in Marsh Creek State Park. Please be courteous to other visitors and clean up after your animals!

Green Street Grille | 150 E. Pennsylvania Avenue

A popular eatery that sells both breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Green Street Grille welcomes pets onto their seasonal outdoor patio. Water bowls and umbrella are put up to keep our furry friends cool.

Anthony’s Pizza & Grill | 132 Wallace Avenue

Craving some Italian food but don’t want to leave your dog at home? That’s not a problem at Anthony’s, where dogs (affectionally) dominate the outdoor covered patio.

La Sponda | 20 E. Lancaster Avenue

Another authentic Italian restaurant with outdoor accommodations for our pups! Featuring popular dishes such as short rib ravioli, seafood risotto, and their famous meatballs, you’ll leave completely satisfied.

Karen’s 7 Acre Fully Fenced Private Dog Park

Last but not least, Karen’s 7-Acre Private Dog Park is available for rent via Sniffspot. Sniffspot is a platform where local people can rent out their land for community dogs to run, play, and relax. Karen’s Dog Park is available to rent out for $15/hour and includes amenities such as 5-foot fences, a kiddie pool and water, and large green pastures for your pup to explore.
