Muse Beauty Bar, located at 36 West Lancaster Avenue in Downingtown, has you covered for all of your glow up needs.
From Personal Passion to Professional Expertise
Owner Melissa Scott first started her own business in West Chester in 2021, offering permanent makeup services. After attending esthetics school to expand her skills and knowledge, she opened Muse Beauty Bar in Downingtown in 2023, offering both skincare and permanent makeup services.
Her inspiration derived from her own journey with her skin and beauty. “Struggling with acne as a teenager and always experimenting to improve my skin — that personal experience, along with my love for the artistry of shaping brows, motivated me to create a space where I could help others feel confident and cared for.” Scott said.
At Muse, you can breathe easy knowing you’ll be well taken care of. Scott has completed extensive training in her field, ensuring she brings her clients the safest and most effective treatments and services possible. She completed her permanent makeup training at Dermagrafix Permanent Makeup School in Doylestown and attended The Beauty Institute in Ambler, PA for esthetics.
“I also hold certifications in dermaplaning, Procell Microchanneling, lash lifts, and advanced training in the professional skincare lines I use both in treatments and retail for my clients,” Scott added.

Customized Services for Every Skin Type and Style
Muse Beauty Bar offers custom and advanced facials. Most facials are available in 60- or 90-minute sessions and include popular options such as dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, firming peptide treatments, and chemicals peels.
“I also love adding on fun and relaxing extras like jelly masks, red light therapy and foot spas to enhance results and create a spa-like experience.” said Scott.
Clients may come to Muse Beauty Bar for a variety of skin ailments or insecurities, such as dullness, fine lines, or wrinkles. The approach is fully customized to each client, whether they’re looking for subtle improvements or a significant transformation.
Scott specializes in permanent makeup application for eyebrows and the lash line. The full Brow Bar menu includes waxing, tinting, staining, laminations, and lash lifts.
“One service I think is really underrated is a lash lift. Many clients aren’t familiar with it until they see the results, and then they’re hooked,” Scott explained. “A lash lift is essentially like a perm for your natural lashes — it enhances their curl and makes the eyes look brighter and more open, without the need for extensions or daily curling.” Lash lifts will last for about 6-8 weeks and requires no maintenance in between sessions; perfect for women who want to look and feel great without spending a ton of time in the bathroom.

A Spa Experience Rooted in Comfort and Care
While beauty maintenance may seem trivial to some, Scott knows it goes far beyond the surface of our looks.
“When we take time for ourselves — whether it’s a facial, a brow service, or even a few quiet minutes of relaxation—it has a direct impact on how we feel mentally and emotionally.” she shared. “Investing in your skin and overall well-being builds confidence, reduces stress, and allows you to show up as the best version of yourself. That philosophy is at the heart of Muse Beauty Bar.”
That philosophy starts as soon as you walk through the doorway. First time visitors are welcomed with a thorough consultation, so they can express their skin and beauty goals. During treatments, Scott utilizes the warm, contoured beds for clients to sink into total relaxation. The soft green and tans that color the beauty bar feel like a comforting embrace. Calming music with ocean sounds will play gently in the background, as her signature eucalyptus candle glows and sets the atmosphere in stone.
“Every step of the facial is intentional — not just for skin health, but for overall comfort. I incorporate gentle touches like scalp, hand and arm, or shoulder massage (often all three), along with essential oils and gua sha techniques to deepen relaxation.” Scott said.

Maintenance Made Easy
Muse Beauty Bar offers memberships, which are designed to make your self-care routine consistent and rewarding. The 60-minute membership includes your monthly facial at a 5% discount, 10% off retail products, 20% off a second facial in the same month, and 20% off a friend or family member’s first facial. The 90-minute membership is popular because it includes all of those benefits, plus 10% off the monthly facial price and one free upgrade each month, such as dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, a firming peptide treatment, a chemical peel, or LED light therapy.
Members receive priority booking and each referrals gets them a complimentary brow tint and wax.
“At the core of Muse Beauty Bar is the belief that self-care is not a luxury, but an essential part of overall well-being,” Scott said. “My mission is to create a space where every client feels cared for, relaxed, and confident in their own skin.”
When you leave Muse Beauty Bar, you’ll find yourself feeling renewed, empowered, and cared for. What better way to take on the world?

A Heart for Community and Self-Care
Muse Beauty Bar is truly rooted in the Downingtown community, gearing up for the third year at Downingtown Fall Fest. Scott also takes part in the cookie exchange during the Christmas parade and the business trick-or-treating at Halloween. Her community involvement doesn’t end there; she has also donated facials for local sports raffles. “It’s not just about running a business here, but about being part of what makes Downingtown special!” she enthused.
As for some Downingtown businesses that hold her heart, Scott mentioned Kalmia Bodywork Massage for her own personal relaxation, her younger brother’s automotive shop Vega Automotive, and her excitement about the newly opened Pandoughmonium Bakery.
When she’s not working, Scott winds down with a good audiobook and enjoys a hot yoga session to connect with both her mind and body. “And honestly, skincare is not just my career, it’s something I truly love, so it’s always a big part of my everyday routine.” she added.
Muse Beauty Bar is typically open Monday through Saturday, opening at 9am. As a solo esthetician and proud mother, Fridays are the best option for evening appointments, though each appointment is scheduled with the client in mind.
