Downingtown Borough is home to six beautiful parks, spanning nearly 100 acres of fields, trails, ponds, and other active areas. Whether you’re into high-impact sports, low-impact walking and sightseeing, or relaxing on a cozy blanket with a good book, there’s truly something for everyone to enjoy at Downingtown’s green spaces.
Kerr Park
Kerr Park is perfect for the active individual or those with children. The spacious park features tennis courts, basketball courts, a softball field, disc golf course, a skatepark, and all-abilities playground. The playground was designed specifically for children for all ability levels, including those who have physical, sensory, and cognitive differences. Looking to throw an outdoor event or party? You can rent one of Kerr Park’s three pavilions for your use. For our history buffs, stop by the Veterans’ Memorial and Minquas Cannon Memorial.

The Ponds
Formerly known as Kardon Park, The Ponds resides at East Pennsylvania Avenue. For those looking for a chance to quietly connect with nature, this park is a great option. The Ponds’ half-mile trail connects right into the Struble Trail, which continues for 2.6 miles along the east side of Brandywine Creek. The Crime Victims’ Center Memorial of Chester County also sits on this land.

Marinelli Park
This beautiful stretch of land was named after the Marinelli brothers, honoring their lives, which were given in service to their country during World War II. Located on Lincoln Avenue, the park was first dedicated to the Marinelli brothers on Veteran’s Day in 2004. An annual Memorial Day service is held lat Marinelli Park every year by Downingtown Borough’s Historic Commission. Next to the park sits the Community Garden.

Johnsontown Park
Located on Viaduct Avenue, Johnsontown Park offers a great mix of activities to satisfy a variety of park-goers. This park is slightly smaller and quieter than others with similar features, which some may be looking for. Shoot hoops on the basketball court, let your children have fun on the playground, get some shade under the pavilion, and enjoy a brisk walk along their picturesque trail. For those interested in the River Station development, they can walk the short distance over the pedestrian bridge to take a glimpse of the project’s progress.

Sunnybrook Park
Sunnybrook Park, located in the East End of Downingtown Borough, is a classic, neighborhood park. It’s perfect for those who want a simple day in the sun with a bit of nostalgia. Sunnybrook features a basketball court, swing set, and a small pavilion for intimate gatherings.

Samuel Tabas Memorial Park
Located on Manor Avenue, Samuel Tabas Memorial Park was named after an important figure in Downingtown History. Owner of Tabas Enterprises, Samuel Tabas spearheaded many iconic landmarks in 19335 throughout the 1960s and 1970s. The Downingtown Inn, Downingtown Farmers Market, and Mickey Rooney’s Tabas Hotel was some of his projects. The property was formerly deed to the Borough in 1995 from the Tabas family. Also set on the property is the 1739 Roger Hunt mill and millrace, now a dilapidated structure. This landmark was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
