The Downingtown West Girl’s Soccer and Boy’s Relay team were honored at the Pennsylvania State Capitol. Senator Carolyn T. Comitta invited the teams in early February to congratulate them on their State Championship wins.
The West soccer team became the 2024 PIAA State Champions this past November. The Whippets won with a score of 3-2 over Conestoga.
“Congrats ladies on a remarkable season. Thank you to the coaching staff for all your work developing their skills and talents, and to the family and fans who supported them along the way. You’ve made this mighty Whippet very proud!” Senator Comitta said, via her Facebook page.
The West boy’s track team also took home first place at the 2024 Ches-Mont Championship. The 4×400 Relay Team consisted of Olo Kolande, Andrew Ernst, Josiah Wade, and Ryan Witherspoon. They finished with a time of 3:17.51 to secure their spot as champs.
“Join me in congratulating the Downingtown West 4x400m relay team on their 2024 indoor state championship! It was a pleasure to welcome Olo Kolade, Andrew Ernst, Josiah Wade, and Ryan Witherspoon to the capitol this week to be recognized for their outstanding achievements.” said Senator Comitta, via her Facebook page. “Congratulations and thank you to Coaches Scott Burns and Tracy Robinson for all your hard work bringing out the best of our young athletes.”
